Dorset Way was originally a drab and uninspiring garden comprising of a small seating area and a large sloping lawn. The client wished for something to look at from their double aspect bi-fold kitchen diner. Squared Earth were asked to provide a seating area which took in the morning sun and the evening sunset. They also requested a lawn area and low maintenance planting.
The Kota Blue Limestone gave the garden a contemporary edge, whilst the warmth of the Balau Hardwood decking and oak sleeper retaining wall added a natural richness.
Subtle garden lighting offers a warm ambience that can be easily zoned via a remote controlled unit. In addition the planting encompassing the decked area was chosen for its lushness, whilst in the opposite side of the garden the eye is drawn through the small copse of silver birch and beyond. The planting is supported by a mains fed automated irrigation system.
The final touch to complete the ‘low maintenance’ aspect of the garden has been achieved by the introduction of artificial grass for the lawn area – eliminating the need for lawn care and mowing!
